What are good vegetable plants to grow in a grow-bag with edible results?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
We don’t have a garden, just terraced balconies, and I want to show my son how vegetables grow. Apart from the obvious tomatoes and courgettes what other veggies can be grown from a grow-bag or plant pot set up?

How can I keep my dogs out of my garden?
November 13th, 2009 Posted by: admin
This is my first garden ever & I am really excited about how well its doing but…. My dogs are destroying it. They have a huge yard to run & play in but they are constantly tearing out my corn & tomatoes.
Thanks everyone for your answers. My dogs are very big so it cant be some flimsy little fence. Oh well… they can have their fun I suppose & next year I will invest in a fence!!

I need help for entering a chili cookoff?
October 5th, 2009 Posted by: admin
My husband has been wanting me to enter a chili cookoff for the past few years. I think it could be fun, and I love to cook anything, but here are my concerns. I love hot, but not everyone does…is hot always better in a chili cookoff? I have giant pots, but when you have no stove, are you using a coleman propane burner and a cast iron pot? My biggest concern is that it says to prepare it all in one pot. Usually I have 4 going before I put it all together…can it start out in several, but end up in one? How would you blanche tomatoes, strain seeds, brown beef…blah blah, with only one pot? This seems tricky…
I don’t know what equipment the good cooks use, I was just throwing Coleman out there because I camp and already own this. I am not allowed to precook my meat and I cannot bring any home canned items (and I just love fresh…maybe it’s not practical.) This is in Michigan and they seem way more wimpy than Texans as far as hot goes. I lived there as a child and remember some restaurant spaghetti making my brother cry…lol.

I am trying to grow a garden for the first time in Georgia Clay. Why is my corn starting to turn yellow?
September 20th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I started all my vegetables inside in smaller pots and then transplanted them to my garden. I have corn, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers. No other plants are having a problem yet except the corn. The corn plants are between 3″ and 6″. I water on a regular basis but am wondering if I need to add some nutrients or if there is too much of something that is burning up the corn. Thanks!
I will clarify my question and state that the corn leaves are turning yellow.

Where to get a raised bed?
September 4th, 2009 Posted by: admin
Should I make one myself? ( I’m not that good with building things myself without instructions) Should I buy one already build or get one in a box I can make myself?
3 CommentsMy soil is running low, so I was thinking of getting some more. What kind should I get? I’m going to grow strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes, and flowers. There mostly going to be grown in pots. What kind of soil is the best to buy?

So.What more to grow?
August 31st, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am extremely new at gardening, and In the past I’ve been asking questions about produce that can be grown only in a pot because I will be moving within the year or so.
3 CommentsI got Peas, Cucumbers, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Basil, And soon once April or may comes into the picture, I do plan to put down carrots and Pumpkins outside.
After a small bit of research I believe I’m in Zone 6, In Frederick, Maryland. Just curious what I should be looking at what more to grow since I got a wide space. If you can think of anything that can be grown in pots inside, let me know please.
Yes Inside, but by the window for enough sunlight. I already have my tomatoes started ^^
