Will my potted Calla Lilies be in bloom for my daughters wedding?
November 28th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I live in N.W. Oregon and I bought 24 potted calla lilies for my daughters wedding and they are not looking so good. I have had them in the shade of a covered patio and 4 of them have gotten soggy from over watering. I cut off the soggy and those are coming back. I realize they won’t be full for the wedding which is a week away, but what of the others? They still have big pretty leaves except some of them are not looking so pretty. How do I give them the care that will cause them to thrive and flower again? They just shed their second blooms and I cut them off. I fed them with liquid fertilizer as well. Will they bloom again in a week and look lush? Do I water them a lot or a little? Do they want the full Oregon sun or shade, or some of both? Help me please I’m worried.

Will my sunflower die?
November 27th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I had a sunflower growing on my back porch in a large, large pot, it was growing great, actually bigger than the ones in my garden, but I went out this morning and found that someone or something had ripped the top off the plant leaving only the stalk and the leaves that had grown below, is this going to die now?

Sticky substance on my Jasmine Tree?
October 20th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I have a small indoor jasmine type tree (not sure of the variety) which has a sticky substance oozing from it - it covers the leaves in the bottom of the pot and is now on my carpet. I’m wondering if it is some type of mite.
1 CommentResearch has revealed that I can spray it with water, an alcohol mixture or soap to try and control the infestation, but I’m not sure which is the best course of action.
This tree also seems rather limp, leaves are yellowing and fall off rather easily - it has not bloomed since we brought it home last fall.
Currently it is in paritial sun (morning sun, afternoon shadier) and receives watering when the 1.5 cms feels dry.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions?
