What is POT?

Its getting too out of hand. We have been BEST friends sense 5th grade and we are both 16. It is partly my fault because I introduced weed to him and we agree to do it for a only a couple months just to make school more fun. (i know, its bad) And eventually we forgot about that and we smoked pot and cigarettes onward for 2 and a half years and I finally made the effort to quit. But he hasnt. For me it took me 5 tryes to quit after one year of it. And I am getting tired of it cuz its ruining our friendship and his dad’s friend ship and his life. He doesnt care about anything anymore and he would rather smoke than hong out with me. I dont care about that I just want things to be normal again. I know i will be a good friend if i help him quit.

Seriously. I am not exagerrating any of these details of the occurence.

On 06/06/03, at around 6pm, my father was in the garden of our country house, mowing the lawn and doing regular garden chores, because it was a bright sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky. Bright blue. Not even rain forcasted.

I was on the computer, playing on a game - all of a sudden there was a huge bang, a bright flash of light in the room (the window was behind me), and the computer boomed, fizzled and died. I went outside to find my father laying on the ground, a huge plant pot laying beside him.

I got him up and asked him what happened, he couldnt reply but was conscious. My step-mother ran out of the house and said she had seen lightening coming down from the sky, hitting my Dad (she was at the kitchen window at the time, doing chores). We got my Dad inside, gave him something for shock and called an ambulance. My Dad was eventually able to talk and confirmed that it was indeed lightening that hit the ground infront of him, but close enough to send him flying through the air backwards.

My father turned out to be perfectly fine, by the way. He just had a headache for a few days.

A computer technition confirmed that the innards of our computer had fried, like they would have done if the area around our house was struck with lightening while having the computer on.

For those religious of you - my Father and Step-mother are Christian, and raised me to be Christian (I am now agnostic). What are your thoughts on this? When the incident occured, I was also a Christian.

And atheists (or those of you that are sciencey) what causes lightning to suddenly strike in a fork to the ground on a bright blue day? There was obviously a cloud in the sky (my father confirmed there was a cloud in the direction the lightening came from, it came from an angle at him) and he said that a few minutes before the lightening struck him, the white fluffy cloud turned black like a tiny storm cloud - but when we looked out the window afterwards, the clouds were all small, fluffy and white. There was no storm that night, or even any rain. Can you tell me what may have caused this to happen suddenly? Another interesting thing was he said that the cloud seemed to be ‘in front’ of the sun. Could this mean anything? We thought this was strange too.

It’s been a few years now, and I never found out how it could have happened.

All thoughts on this welcome! Just thought it was quite interesting I remember the date and time because it was my cousins birthday, and we were due to go to her party at 7pm. Needless to say, we didn’t go..
PLEASE read at least some of the details.

I have stated that I am agnostic and I am asking the knowledgable of you to explain why it may have happened.

I ask here because many of my contacts are on R&S, I thought my story would be interesting to share, and because most of you seem quite intelligent regarding science in this manner - and because it is R&S, I didn’t want to leave out those religious, so I invited them to give their input too.

Crikey - atheists really can be mean sometimes. Haha!

Not sure, mate. All I know was that the computer was completely kaput inside. What was your idea?

All I can say is that all our electricity goes through the ground, because we live in the country. *shrug*

I found out that my ex-boyfriend
was smoking pot with his friends & his new girlfriend
with my 2 year old son in the room! Im so furious!
This happened about a week ago & now my son has
broncidus(sp?) and im scared to let my son go over to
his dads house..he’s very irresponsible and he’s always
high or drunk..do you think this whole incident is a reason
to make me not let my son see his father?

Im pretty sure it has happended more times than this.
Am I overreacting?Im just afraid something might happen…

I have recently separated from my kids father for many many reasons. One is due to him smoking pot. When we first met 5 years ago he smoked every night. Then by the time I fell pregnant with our first daughter he was extremely dependant on the stuff. Smoked even at work on his breaks. In the end he became withdrawn and not the man I fell in love with. But once I was a couple months pregnant with our 1st daughter he cut back and by the time she was born his only smoked when he went out with his mates etc. We have since had another daughter and he started smoking regularly again when I was half way through my pregnancy. He knew I HATED it and didn’t allow it around my kids, not even normal smokes. I have seen a change in him in the last few months, like what he was when we was very dependant on the crap. I haven’t spoken to him about it, no point I can see. He will not listen to what I have to say anyway.
The problem is that he has the kids over night for 2 nights a week. I’m worried that he will smoke when he has the kids. I know he won’t right in front of them, but he will be looking after them when he has. I **** the thought of this happening. He is not himself when he does. I worry about the safety of my babies. He is a great dad though. I know he loves them to bits and wouldn’t harm them purposely.
I told someone this the other day and said that there is something I can do about it. Go to court over it and he has to have a urine test every time before and after having the kids.
I kind of want to do this, but at the same time I don’t. I don’t want this to effect the kids and him seeing them. But I also don’t want him to be doing this while having the kids. And if pot stays in your urine for 3 months he will never be able to smoke if he wants to see his kids. I don’t want him to smoke anyway, but this is none of my business now anyway,only when he has the kids. I personally think he should grow up and start acting like a responsible adult and father figure.
Should I tell him what I want to do, so maybe he will stop and not have to go through with the court thingy?
What would you do?

ok, my best friend came to with a situation, and i have no freakin idea what to tell her, because i’ve never been in a situation like this. From what i hear, her and her mom are always butting heads about respect, well my friend, Kate, her mom has a drug problem but kate’s mom doesn’t know she knows. How can Kate respect her mom if she’s a pot head who wont get help? Kate thinks that she shouldnt respect someone who doesn’t seem to care that if the wrong person came into the house and told the wrong person, Kate could be taken away from her mom (she’s a minor, and her dad died) should i tell her to confront her mom? or what….i just have no idea what to tell my best friend…any ideas?

My mom and principal got in a fight about my absences for when I was attending middle school. My mom un-enrolled me [for many reasons other than absences] from there and i am now home schooled. For some reason Mr. Principal is taking me and my mom too court too get me taken away from my mom and if we lose the case, i have too live with my pot-using abusive dad [who lives in an unsafe area.]

The principal started this, and apparently thinks her mother is bad by letting her skip shcool all the time. But she really loves her mom. She wants to live with her 100%. I told her she should tell the judge about her dads drug abuse, but she didnt want to see him in jail.

What should i tell her? She is going to court in 2 weeks, what are some tips on how she can win and stay with her mother? if your a lawyer of some sort, please give some ideas. greatly appreciative in advance

I’m only an 11 year old girl, but I want to help my mom to stop smoking. My dad and 12-year old brother are also trying to help, but does anyone have any suggestions on helping us? She’s kinda cranky since she tryed to quit, but still sneaks a few puffs, any help?

Im icky when it comes to hygiene and my dad always eats at the kitchen. He eats standing and touches all the food in the pots using the spoon he eats with.. I dont know why he couldnt just use a new spoon to put the food into his bowl instead? I dont want to tell him though because its wrong. Anyone else have a similar problem?

My Dad has recently started smoking Cuban cigars and etc. and people have been commenting to me and my mom that we smell like smoke. Just a while ago I took a guy home that I like and we hugged and he said he smelt smoke. Also its making my asthma and current case of mono get worst. My dad is selfish and doesnt care at all about what hes doing to the house and us. So what should I do?

now i am sure my brother is smoking what should i do???
i found some pot rolled in his bathroom should i take it away w/o saying anything should i leave it and just let him do what he wants??
he is 16 years old my dad is really strict and so if he caught him he would be beyond pissed
is there any long term effects it can do?
i am younger than him and so i know that i cant play the big sister roll
i dont want to be all intervention on him
